Home Modification and Repair Services

  • Do you or a loved one need home modifications such as a wheelchair ramp or grab bars in the bathroom?
  • Do you need home repairs or improvements, but don't know where to start?
  • Are you getting by on a fixed income and having difficulty paying for health and safety-related repairs, such as plumbing leaks, heating unit repairs, or roof leaks?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Housing and Home Improvement department at Resources for Seniors can help!

To request a service for yourself, or make a referral for someone else, please fill out this form for ramp or hot water heater requests, or this form for all other requests. Or, call 919-872-7933 and ask for the Information Department.

Licensed general contractors and skilled volunteer craftsmen can provide a variety of minor health and safety-related repairs and aids to Wake County residents generally age 55 or older (some programs differ). Recipients of these services are asked to pay a portion of the cost, based on their household income.

We may be able perform more major home repairs and renovations by partnering with local, state and federally funded programs that we have been entrusted to administer.

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) uses federal funds to provide energy-saving improvements on homes of low-income Wake County residents (no age limit).
