Program Description:

Private, nonprofit, faith-based organization. Mission is to engage the community in providing volunteer services to improve the lives of seniors, caregivers, and adults with disabilities. Involves more than 500 volunteers from churches, and the community at large, throughout Wake County. Volunteers provide respite for family caregivers, companionship, errands, light housework, yard work, friendly visiting or telephone reassurance, and escorted transportation. Respite program for non-personal care tasks only. Services are provided based on volunteer availability, so wait lists vary depending on what service is needed. Once a volunteer becomes available, it takes about one month to complete the intake process and begin services. CVC administers the Friendly Visitor and Telecare programs for RFS. Mary Arthur is the contact person for new referrals for these programs.
