Program Description:

Fan program that begins in late spring or early summer (depending on the weather). Provides cooling assistance to low-income elderly or disabled people and low-income families who are WCHS clients. Contributions funding this program are received from power companies, other businesses, churches, civic groups, and the public. Eligible clients are people over 60 with no other source of cooling in the home, disabled individuals receiving SSI, and families with children under age 12. Recipients must be already receiving services through other WCHS programs (e.g. Medicaid, food stamps, etc). People over age 60 need not be WCHS clients. Clients who are under age 60 and do not meet these criteria are referred to Helping Hand Mission. (Note: Fans for people over age 60 can also be obtained from Resources for Seniors, regardless of WCHS client status.)
