Program Details

Hours: Office: Monday-Friday, 9AM to 5PM. Tutors available days, evenings, weekends.
Eligibility: Clients: Age 16 or older and not currently enrolled in school. Children age 6 and older that are court-involved or at risk of court involvement. Potential Tutors: Must be age 18 or older with good reading skills, patience, and a commitment to helping others achieve their goals. Must attend Tutor Training Workshop.
Fees: No charge
Intake Process: Clients: Call to schedule an interview and assessment. Potential Tutors: Call or email to apply.
Service Area: Wake, Durham, and Johnston counties

Program Description:

Provides free and confidential educational services to adults and youth who have difficulty reading or may be unable to read. Programs include ABE (Adult Basic Education -- for native English speakers) and ESL (English as a Second Language -- for those who cannot speak English), along with an intense family literacy program for parents with young children and juvenile literacy center. Resource materials provided.
