Program Description:

Provides an automated check-in phone call on a daily basis for seniors who live alone. Seniors will receive a daily telephone call between 3:00 and 4:00PM from a voice mail system. If they are OK, they press 2; if they need help, they press 1. If they request assistance or if they do not answer, the designated contact person will be called and, if no answer, a deputy will be dispatched to the senior's home to check on them. Eligible seniors must: 1. Be age 65 or older. 2. Live alone (not just alone during the day) anywhere in Wake County. 3. Have a next-of-kin or relative available as a responsible party. 4. Have someone nearby with access to home, keys, etc. 5. Be subject to a unique threat to physical safety of some type not covered above. Seniors who are referred to the program will receive a visit from the Sheriff's office to explain the program and assess appropriateness.
