Program Description:

Helpline is staffed by specialists with nursing and social work backgrounds, offering current disease information, medical issues including symptoms and treatments, health and social care, emotional support, and referrals to health professionals and community resources for local support. People with Parkinson’s disease, their families, friends and health care providers are invited to call. A wide variety of helpful publications are also available for order. While NPF does not provide financial assistance, Parkinson’s disease information specialists can also provide information about various programs that you may qualify for. Website offers searches for local MDs, allied health professionals, NPF Chapters, and support groups. Also offers online discussion forums such as "Ask the Doctor", "Ask about Nutrition", and "Caregivers Forum" for those with Parkinson's and their families and caregivers. Support group in Raleigh meets at The Heritage. Call the Helpline for current details.
