Program Description:
Health Insurance Smart NC is a consumer assistance program. The program assists consumers with filing medical appeals, complaints (State Health Plan and self-funded plans only), and external review requests for denied health insurance services or products. Services are provided at no cost to the consumer. This program targets consumers who have private insurance. Consumers who have Medicare are referred to the SHIIP program for assistance.
