Program Description:

FIFNC serves individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and/or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and their families. FIFNC provides assistance to meet self-defined family support requests in all 100 counties of North Carolina. Requirements for funding eligibility are: a) Individual or family member has an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability or Traumatic Brain Injury, and is living at home; b) Family must live in one of the 100 counties of North Carolina; c) Household income must be under $65,000 per year, after taxes. There are no age requirements for individuals to receive FIFNC funding. Types of requests can include, but are not limited to, household modifications such as wheelchair ramps, furniture/clothing/basic needs, assistive technology, summer camp, transportation and respite. FIFNC helps families to meet a variety of requests based on self-defined need and does not offer a "menu of services". FIFNC also offers future planning services and informational workshops (on topics such as wills and estate planning, letter of intent, guardianship, and alternatives) through the Lifetime Connections program that are fee-based. For more information on Lifetime Connections and/or future planning services call and ask to speak with the Lifetime Connections program coordinator.
