Program Description:
Non-profit agency providing assistive equipment and ramps to people who are disabled. Two components: Revolving Gift Equipment Program: Accepts and lends out donated DME and assistive devices such as wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, etc. Not just mobility equipment, (Cannot accept very large items such as hospital beds. Currently not accepting crutches or walkers due to oversupply. No longer accepts or lends out bedside commodes.) Adopt-a-Ramp Program: Recruits corporate sponsors with volunteers to build modular wheelchair ramps. Ramps are built only when sponsorships have been made (usually 4-6 per year), so supply is quite limited and wait time can be extensive. The ramps are made in modules so they can be disassembled and given to someone else if no longer needed. Teams are matched with individuals needing the ramp, so they have the opportunity to get to know the recipient.
