Donating to Resources for Seniors

Resources for Seniors relies on many funding sources including federal, state, county, and local funds, grants, and program fees, as well as private and corporate donations. Since Resources for Seniors is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, private donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

In this era of tight government budgets, support from private and corporate members of our community is becoming ever more critical. To keep our vital programs for seniors fully-funded and operational, we need your assistance.

Over 94% of the funds we receive goes directly to fund the programs that support our community.

Matching Gifts

Many companies offer matching gift programs that compound employee charitable contributions. Ask your personnel officer to find out if your company will match your gift. If they do match, be sure to follow your organization's matching gift process.

Gifts of Securities

Your broker can assist you in making a gift of stock via a direct transfer. Giving publicly traded stock that has increased in value may provide greater tax benefits than giving cash, if you have owned it for more than one year. Your income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock, and you avoid paying capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock. Also, you save on brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock.

Please inform us of stock transfers so that we can properly acknowledge your gift and forward the documentation you will need to claim your tax deduction. Call our main office at 919-872-7933.
