Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30AM to 5:15PM
Eligibility: Must live in Wake County (outside city limits of Raleigh, Cary, and Holly Springs). Property value, income, assets, and amount of work needed must meet guidelines. Must be owner-occupied for Emergency Grant program. For Elderly/Disabled program, must be age 62 OR disabled.

Program Description:

Emergency Grant Program offers grants for home rehabilitation to low-income homeowners in Wake County (outside city limits of Raleigh, Cary, and Holly Springs). If the property is a mobile home, must be on a permanent foundation (brick, block, slab, or piers/ tie-downs). Pays for repairs up to $5,000, and is open to households up to 40% of area median income. Tax value of property must not exceed $150,000. Assets cannot exceed $25,000. Repairs include, but are not limited to, roof, HVAC, well and septic. Elderly and Disabled Grant Program pays for up to $15,000 in repairs for low income, elderly (age 62 and older) or disabled residents. Can include remodeling for accessibility, widening doorways, roll-in shower, ramps, etc. Repairs can include structural elements (roof, floor, foundation), HVAC systems, wiring, collapsed ceilings, failing well/septic systems, and more. If the property is not owner-occupied, the owner will have to pay a percentage of the cost (up to 10% of repair plus up to 10% of lead testing and abatement for older homes). Tax value of property must not exceed $150,000. Open to households up to 40% of area median income. Assets cannot exceed $25,000. (Note: To obtain assistance through any of the above programs, possible clients cannot owe delinquent taxes to Wake County for real or personal property.)
