Transportation Programs
Resources for Seniors administers 3 different transportation programs:
For additional information about these programs, contact Resources for Seniors' transportation coordinator, Mike Mitchell, by calling 919-713-1527.
This is a very limited program, intended to serve those who have no other means of transportation to medical appointments. Trips are limited to one or two times per month, due to limited funding. Individuals needing transportation to frequent appointments (such as dialysis or chemotherapy) cannot be served.
To be eligible, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Person is at least 60 years old
- Person does NOT live within the Raleigh or Cary city limits (because these communities have their own transportation programs).
- Person does NOT have Medicaid (because Medicaid has its own transportation program).
- Person does NOT have a valid driver's license or is physically unable to drive safely.
- Person has no other means of transportation
Participants may apply through Resources for Seniors' Transportation Coordinator to be placed on a waiting list for this program. Due to severely limited funding, the waiting list is currently indefinite. New clients can only be added to the program as existing clients drop out.
